PCHOA Meetings

The PCHOA board meets every quarter, the 2nd Monday @ 6:30pm at the Community Center, 18715 Bent Tree Lane, Tampa, FL 33647. PCHOA members and guests are invited to attend.

In the past, if you attended a board meeting, you could sign up for an opportunity to address the board. As a homeowner, you had three minutes to discuss any topic of interest. The board voted to change this procedure. If you have a topic you would like to discuss at a board meeting, please send an e-mail or a letter requesting an opportunity to speak. You can send an e-mail to the community website (you need to sign up for a user name and password), or you can simply drop off a request in writing to the community center directly. We hope this new process will allow the board to better prepare to answer your questions. In the past, if the board didn’t know the answer to your question, you had to wait until the next meeting for an answer. You must have your request in 10 days before the board meeting. Please remember that the board does not have to address every request.

Board Meetings:
By Dan Logan

As a board member, I have always felt that if you take time out of your day to come to a board meeting … and if you have a question … you should have the right to ask the question and get an answer.

Please remember that board meetings are for “board business”, and that our annual meetings are for “resident business”.

With that said, the board of directors is going back to the formal process of holding a board meeting which means …

1. Board meeting are for board business.
2. No questions will be addressed or answered during the board agenda.
3. If you wish to speak at a board meeting, you must petition the board in advance with your question. The petition must go to UPI. All questions must be received 7 days prior to the board meeting.
4. The board will review the questions, and has final say as to what is added to the agenda.
5. When speaking, you will have 3 minutes to address the board.
6. When the board meeting is over, you can ask questions of individual board members at their discretion.

So ... why the change?

Primarily two reasons ...

1. The length of the meetings is becoming problematic. We want to keep the meeting short so that people who come aren’t there for two hours.
2. Personal attacks. Recently, we have had residents verbally attack staff and board members. We want to keep order at board meetings.

Finally, I personally will stay as long as necessary to answer any questions you may have after the meeting. We are trying to keep the meeting short and orderly for those who do attend.
